Our Hope for Heaven is the foil, the enhancement, of the Promised Land!
“Do not let your hearts be troubled… My Father’s house has many rooms… I am going to prepare a place for you… I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” Jn. 14:1-2-3-4.
# 45 2026 Dev. Numbers 33-34. The Land Promised to Abraham! Read all of chapter thirty-three and thirty-four first. We invite you into God’s space, to read His Word, to think on and interact with. This is God’s Story. Do you believe that this may also be part of our story, in our time? All passages are taken from the NIV.
Nu.33 All of the place names of the wanderings of the Israelites after leaving Egypt are listed and now they stand at the door, Jericho.
Vs.1-39 are only place names but at Mt. Hor, Aaron is called home. He received the Ultimate Promised Land. Because of the lack of trust in God every one 20 years and older would not enter the land except Caleb and Joshua. Take note; it was God who was guiding them, they only moved if the cloud, the Presence of God, moved. God was protecting them, but God also protects us, today, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Listen for Him, Amen?
Vs. 40-49 After Mt. Hor they traveled from place to place. In all, they journeyed to 42 different places after leaving Egypt. The last place, “they left the mountains of Abarim and camped on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.”
Vs.50-56 God commanded the Israelites to drive out the inhabitants of the land and to destroy all their idols and carved images, their high places and their sacred places. Divide the land to all the tribes by lot. “‘But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides.” God is warning them that the influence of evil is never far away. That goes for today as well, stay with your people! We have already experienced some of that discord and it appears that more is on the way.
Nu.34 God sets the boundaries of the land.
Vs.1-15 “The Lord said to Moses, ‘Command the Israelites and say to them ‘when you enter Canaan, the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance is to have these boundaries’”: see the map.
Vs.16-29 The Lord assigned Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun and one member for the 9 tribes and the half tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim, sons of Joseph to divide the land. Canaan was polluted by the people and their worship, including sacrificing children to Baal. All of it was an abomination to God. We should worry and pray without ceasing about our own land, there will be a reckoning.
