We are Rev. Case and Gremar Van Wyk we live at Heaven High. How does one describe ones life? I think I will limit this to a few highlights. My life is not described by defining events such as immigration to the US or being drafted and serving in the Dominican Republic as a paratrouper combat engineer and one year in Vietnam. But by a short passage from Scripture: Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” It takes time to work that out and we are still working on it. Since service overseas I had a desire for for full time Christian service. I did not act on my desire for ministry until a chance meeting with someone who was working in Missionary Aviation. I became an airplane mechanic and a pilot with the purpose of doing missionary aviation. In Jan. of 1973 I was hired by Christian Reformed World Missions to work in Nigeria, West Africa to replace the very person I had a change meeting with some years before. In Sept. of 1974 Miss Gremar DeKoter was hired by CRWM as a nurse midwife to work in Nigeria. She came to work, and work she did even after we got married but for me she is God’s gift to me! I worked as the aviation mechanic for four years but after we got married in 1977 we asked to switch to church planting. We are thankful to CRWM for that God given opportunity. We planted new churches for the Christian Reformed Church in Nigeria for ten years. God blessed us with three beautiful children, Steve, Christina, and Rebecca. During those ten years I also attended RBC, now Kuyper College when on home service from Nigeria starting in 1978 and graduating in 1988. After graduation we decided to take a three-year break from missions and attended Calvin Seminary graduating in 1991. Gremar worked at Metro Health Hospital for the duration of my studies giving our family great support. With ordination in Oct. of 1991 I reached my goal of Ministry that I had dreamed about as a child. I was 48 yrs. old and it took 40 years to realize the dream. We returned to Nigeria and worked for the CRCN as pastor to the Fulani for another seven years. Our children were in boarding school from Primary to High School so when they started to attend college we returned to the States to be more available to them. I served a regular CRC parish in Grant MI. for six years. Then I ministered in a small church plant in Newaygo MI. for CRC Home Missions for six years. Those were the best years of ministry, the church grew from 11 members to 85. I retired in 2009 and since 2010 we have volunteered for 4 months of the year for CRWM in Niger State, Nigeria. Since 2012 we are Associate Missionaries serving the CRCN for six months at a time at the Warari Bible School in Niger State, Nigeria. You may experience our ministry with us at www.heavenhigh.org. God is good all of the time, He is faithful and truly directs our path as we submit to Him. Praise Him! You may contact us at cgvanwyk5@gmail.com or contact crwm@crcna.org
