Light! “Through him (Jesus) all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” Jn. 1:3-5.
# 34 2025 Dev. Isa.24:3-5. A Light in The Darkness! Read all of chapter twenty-four first. We invite you into God’s space, to read His Word, to think on and interact with. This is God’s Story. Do you believe that this may also be part of our story, in our time? All passages are taken from the NIV.
Isa.24-27 is a condemnation of the whole world. Ch. 24 sets the tone, “The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant” Isaiah is more than likely prophesying the actions of Sannacherib 705-681 BC. and/or Nebuchadnezzar II 605-562. Further, this section also points to the end of the world.
Vs.1-12 “See, the Lord is going to lay waste the earth and devastate it…” The prophecy covers everyone regardless of status or position. That is something we all need to pay attention to. Think about what is going on in the world; the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia. “The joyful timbrels are stilled, the noise of the revelers has stopped, the joyful harp is silent” No more wine and beer.
Vs.13-16a Light. “They raise their voices, they shout for joy;
from the west they acclaim the Lord’s majesty. Therefore, in the east give glory to the Lord…” A light in the darkness. So, it is today, young people are turning back to Jesus, a light in the current darkness in our country as well as in the world, there is a significant increase of faith on a global scale. Praise the Lord!
Vs.16b-22 “The floodgates of the heavens are opened, the foundations of the earth shake. The earth is broken up, the earth is split asunder, the earth is violently shaken.” God is in control of all events in the earth!
V.23 “the Lord almighty will reign on mount Zion and Jerusalem…”The Light of Jesus’ physical Light, spiritual Light and the Light of God’s justice out shine the sun and the moon. God reigned at that time and still reigns today. Praise Him!
